Cradle or Grave

  Welcome to Cradle or Grave! What on earth is Cradle or Grave , I hear you say? Cradle or Grave is a new history blog, devoted to a very specific subject. Learning about one person, who died or who was born 100 years ago today (or tomorrow, or the day after). What will you learn in each blog post? The life story of a musician, or a reverend, or a physician, or a chemist. And that’s just for the first four blog posts! Each post will identify if they were in the cradle or the grave on this day, why they mattered and what effect they had on the world around them. Along the way, you’ll learn about the world in which they were born, a world surprisingly not always that different from the one we live in. A world rocked by economic trouble, recovering from a major pandemic and struggling with the same social issues we are struggling with in the 21 st century.
